Day 1- A Welcome to Edinburgh
Welcome to Scotland! Enjoy a private guided walking tour of Edinburgh with a Local Specialist. Journey through the cobblestone streets and courtyards and take in the main sights of this wonderful city including a visit to Edinburgh Castle. Later, the Johnnie Walker Experience on Princes Street. Explore the secrets behind the country’s most popular whisky across eight dramatic floors – This is whisky like you’ve never experienced it before.
Day 2- Journey to Inverness
As you head to the Highlands, stop off at Glamis Castle, home of the Earl of Strathmore. The castle was the birthplace of the Queen Mother, the setting for Shakespeare’s Macbeth and is reputed to be one of the most haunted places in the British Isles. Next, visit the award-winning Highland Chocolatier for a unique MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience and sweet afternoon break.
Day 3- Speyside Whisky Region & Tasting
Spend a full day exploring Speyside, Scotland’s most famous whisky region to sample spirits and learn about the craft of creating this delicious concoction. Visit Benromach Distillery, then Glenmorangie Distillery for a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience to learn how the distillery is restoring long lost oyster reefs to the Firth. Stop at Cardhu Distillery, home to the famous Johnnie Walker Black Label whisky then visit Speyside Cooperage for a guided tour that is a true delight for whisky fans. Journey through the lifecycle of the cask in a 4D cinematic presentation and see cooper craftspeople at work from the viewing gallery.
Day 4- Loch Ness & Isle of Skye
Travel along the banks of Loch Ness. Stop at Eilean Donan Castle, the stunning 13th-century location where three lochs meet. Take in some of its majestic scenery before crossing the land bridge to the Isle of Skye.
Day 5- Cruise to Rona Harbor
Enjoy a leisurely cruise to stunning Rona Harbor with a Local Specialist, taking in views of iconic Storr and Cullins along the way. Wildlife spotting opportunities are abundant throughout the trip– watch out for dolphins and look out for Rona’s resident seal colony. Once you arrive at the harbor, enjoy a hearty seafood lunch in truly special surroundings before going ashore to explore the Island. This is a truly special place.
Day 6- Ferry Steam Train & Inverlochy Castle
Take the ferry to Mallaig, a remote and relaxing location famous for its fishing port. Travel from Mallaig to Fort William taking in the stunning scenery for a grand exploration of lush greenery. All aboard! This afternoon, hop on the Jacobite Steam Train, considered one of the greatest rail trips in the world. As you travel through the stunning countryside, watch for the Glenfinnan Viaduct, well known to Harry Potter fans familiar with the ‘Hogwarts Express.’ Disembark in Fort William and continue to the magnificent Inverlochy Castle for a unique dining experience
Day 7- Journey to Loch Lomond
Traveling through the valley of Glencoe to the shores of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Relax on board your cruise of the Loch and enjoy live commentary with tales from the loch and insights into the history and geology of this part of Loch Lomond. Stay locally and enjoy Scottish village life at its most quaint.
Day 8- Loch Lomond to Scotland's South
At Glengoyne Distillery, delight in some whisky and chocolate matching. Notice the flavors transforming the palate as you taste chocolates every bit as intense as the eighteen and twenty year-old whiskies you’ll sample. Visit historic Abbotsford Country House, extraordinary home of 19th century novelist Sir Walter Scott. Scott was an obsessive collector of books, artefacts, weaponry and more., much of which can still be seen in Abbotsford collection. But his home itself was his most cherished possession and you will see why and it will not disappoint.
Day 9- Scotland's South
Join Farmer Robert for a 90 minute tour of the farm by trailer and on foot to discuss how they grow food. The exact content of the tour will be seasonally dependent but you will certainly meet some of the farms animals and see plenty of wildlife whilst enjoying spectacular views. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious, home cooked, two course lunch in The Stables featuring farm grown produce and other seasonal, locally grown food. The story of weaving in Lochcarron started in 1938. Local wool was used in the making of tweeds, white blankets and rugs. Woven on handlooms the products offer soon included a length of Crawford Tartan. Since these humble beginnings, Lochcarron has gone on to become the world’s leading manufacturer of tartan. Add a Kilt to your wardrobe and never worry again about what to wear to that special event.
Day 10- Depart Edinburgh
Your private chauffeur will take you to the airport, where it’s time to bid farewell to Scotland, as your vacation ends.
Note: If your visit is in August, you might want to attend the spectacular Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a not-to-be-missed spectacle with bands, musicians, and other performers from around the world (August 2 to August 24 2024 – provisional dates released by Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo)
