What's Included on a Self-Drive Trip?
Day 1- Welcome to Edinburgh
Welcome to Scotland. On arrival at Edinburgh airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Discover the Georgian period New Town, the Old Town and the Royal Mile on your Hop-On Hop-Off tour of Edinburgh. Journey through the cobblestone streets and courtyards to take in the main sights of this wonderful city. Your experience includes entrances fees to Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace & Royal Yacht Britannia. There are more than 10 other stops along the route and a host of other famous sights to see.
Day 2- Explore Everything Edinburgh
Discover Edinburgh’s food culture and as you join a Local Specialist for a walking tour, tasting locally-sourced Scottish food and tipples along the way.
Day 3- Journey to St. Andrews & Inverness
Travel across the Firth of Forth to St. Andrews and join a Local Specialist on a walking tour, view the celebrated ancient university and the ‘home of golf’. At your leisure, continue through the picturesque town of Pitlochry and Cairngorms National Park to Inverness, the capital of the Highlands.
Day 4- Experience the Magical Isle of Skye
Why not leave the car for a day and discover the magic of the Isle of Skye? Take in some of its majestic scenery on this not-to-be-missed breathtaking day trip. See the Old Man of Storr, mysterious Faerie pools and the stunning Quiraing before visiting Eilean Donan Castle – a stunning 13th-century castle dramatically located at the point where three lochs meet.
Day 5- Monsters and Mountains
Travel along the banks of Loch Ness where you’ll see ancient ruins and diverse scenery. Keep your eyes peeled on your Loch Ness cruise... who knows, you may spot the famous monster, Nessie! Continue through stunning Glencoe and the majestic backdrop of Ben Nevis. Day 6- Journey to Glasgow
Discover the city and it’s unique murals from a local perspective on a Glasgow Street Art Walking tour. As you stroll through the streets listening to your passionate Local Specialist, you’ll soon see why Scotland’s largest city is renowned for its culture, style and friendliness of its people.
Day 7- Farewell Scotland, Fáilte to Dublin
Bid farewell to Scotland and make your way to Glasgow airport. Then hop over to see their Celtic cousin as you fly to Dublin (flight not included in ‘from’ prices). Upon arrival you will be privately transferred to your hotel. A Hop-On Hop-Off tour is a great introduction to Dublin and all her highlights. See Georgian architecture, get a look at some amazing modern art and taste some of the city’s famous whiskey to lift your spirits. With more than 20 stops along the route, there’s surely something for everyone (entrance fees are not included).
Day 8- Explore Everything Dublin
Your Hop-On, Hop-Off tour pass is still valid for today to continue your exploration of Ireland’s vibrant capital. Experience the highlights of Irish food and Dublin’s food scene on a walking tour with a Local Specialist. Stop at some of the city’s award-winning eateries and food shops to taste some delicious samples. Bring your appetite and indulge in everything from ice cream to Irish stew. Later, visit Teelings Whiskey Distillery for a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience. See this state-of-the-art distillery in operation and get up close and personal with the copper pot still.
Day 9- Journey to Waterford
The Vikings knew a good thing when they saw it, a sheltered bay, a strategic location on the river Suir and a good trading position all attracted the Norse raiders here to create Ireland’s first city. And 1,100 years later it's still going strong. Stop off for a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience at Mount Congreve an 18th-Century Georgian Estate and enjoy a gentle stroll through the formal gardens, home of one of the largest collection of plants in the World. Home to six generations of Congreves, on your guided tour a treasure trove of discoveries awaits.
Day 10- Journey to Cobh & Killarney
Make your way to Cobh and explore the maritime history of ‘Queenstown’ the last port of call for the Titanic with a Local Specialist. Continue to lively Killarney, known for its many pubs and open, cheerful atmosphere. Take a Jaunt in Killarney’s National Park with a local Jarvey, who will regale you with stories and folklore.
Day 11- Experience The Wonders of Ring of Kerry
Travel the road that winds around the beautiful Iveragh Peninsula, better known as the Ring of Kerry and admire the breath-taking scenery of rugged landscapes and crashing seas on an unforgettable day tour. Alternatively, perhaps opt for a hike through Killarney National Park with a Local Specialist.
Day 12- Journey Via the Cliffs Of Moher To Shannon Region
Experience the Cliffs of Moher from the Atlantic Ocean on a breath-taking cruise along the 5-mile shoreline. Gaze up at the sheer, craggy cliff face, rising 700 feet above you. Next meet a charmingLocal Specialist on who will encourage you to stop and drink in the environment of the Burren and it's amazing Eco system, full of cliffs, caves, and archaeological sites.
Day 13- Depart Shannon
Bid Farewell to Ireland as you make your way to Shannon Airport, where your vacation ends.
