What's Included on a Self-Drive Trip?
Day 1: A Welcome to Edinburgh
Welcome to Scotland!You will be met in the arrival's hall by your private driver and transferred to yourhotel. A Hop-On, Hop-Off tour is a great introduction to this UNESCO World Heritage city and you’ll journey through cobblestone streets and courtyards as you lose yourself in its narrow lanes full of ancient heritage.
Day 2: Exploring Everything Edinburgh
Enjoy a walking tour with aLocal Specialist. Learn the ‘Secrets of the Royal Mile’ and skip the lines at Edinburgh Castle. This grand sight is perched high atop a dormant volcano. See the Scottish Crown Jewels, Mons Meg, the Great Hall and so much more in the special company of your passionate local.
Day 3: Journey to Perthshire
Shrouded in growing ivy and built in the foothills of the Grampian mountains, Blair Athol Distillery is an icon of the Scottish Highlands. Allt Dour, the distillery's ancient source of water, flows through the grounds from mountainous slopes, contributing to the whisky's unique flavour. Enjoy a guided distillery experience followed by a tutored tasting of three whiskies including a Distillery Exclusive Bottling and a gift.
Day 4: 4x4 Safari & Magical Highlands
Climb aboard your 4x4 with your Safari Ranger for an encounter with the natural beauty of the Highlands. Discover tracks, trails and stunning views before enjoying some shortbread and tea (or a dram of something stronger) among the astonishing scenery. Great fun for all the family.
Day 5: Inverness and Culloden Battlefield
Today, explore Inverness city and step back into a bloody period of Scotland’s history at the battlefields of Culloden. This site is where the Jacobite cause, under Bonnie Prince Charlie’s leadership, was crushed in 1746.
Day 6: Legends and Lochs
Cruise along the banks of Loch Ness, where you’ll see ancient ruins, stunning scenery and may even spot the famous monster! Visit Oban Distillery, one of Scotland’s smallest whisky, known for its authenticity and heritage on this MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience. Make your way to Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. This magical location is home to snow-capped mountains, lush greenery and some of Scotland’s most incredible scenery.
Day 7: Loch Lomond & Glasgow
This morning take a cruise on the shimmering waters of Loch Lomond before making your way to Glasgow.Scotland’s largest city is set on the River Clyde and is renowned for its culture, style and the friendliness of its people. Enjoy a Glaswegian food tour with aLocal Specialist, where you’ll interact with the locals, visit independent restaurants, shops and bars and enjoy a generous mix of food and drink tastings.
Day 8: Scotland's South
Travel further South to the extraordinary home of Sir Walter Scott, Abbotsford House to learn about the adventures of the 19th -century novelist. Afterwards it’s on to a luxury country house for a night of rest.
Day 9: Depart Edinburgh
Make your way to Edinburgh airport for your return flight home
