Days 2-3 (DEC 23-24): Florence / Pisa (Livorno), Italy

As the birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence and its historic center is bursting with elegant squares, imposing palaces, magnificent churches, incredible art galleries and museums with an abundance of riches.

Day 4 (DEC 25): Day at Sea

Day 5 (DEC 26): Mahon, Menorca, Spain

Perched atop a cliff overlooking the natural harbor, Mahon is most striking when approached by sea, with shops, cafes, restaurants and the Church of Santa Maria lining the streets between the two plazas.

Day 6 (DEC 27): Palma, Majorca, Spain

Dating back to Roman times, Palma de Mallorca features an amazing gothic Cathedral with some of the world’s largest stained glass windows, the Museum of Contemporary Spanish Art and the mystical Caves of Drach.

Days 7-8 (DEC 28-29): Barcelona, Spain

Dynamic Barcelona is all about architecture, from the magnificent medieval buildings of the Gothic Quarter to the Modernist movement typified by the work of Antoni Gaudi including the amazing Sagrada Familia.

Day 9 (DEC 30): Cartagena, Spain

Strategically located along historic sailing routes, Cartagena has been colonized by a who’s who of Mediterranean superpowers over the millennia, resulting in a rich and multi-layered heritage and history.

Day 12 (JAN 2): Casablanca, Morocco

The gateway to Morocco’s exotic interior and the Imperial Cities of Rabat and Marrakech, Casablanca is a modern city swathed in rich history and vintage romance. An important trading center, Casablanca has passed though many hands as a colonial stronghold for the Romans, Portuguese, and French, absorbing these influences while maintaining its position as the economic heart of the country into its modern independence.

Day 13 (JAN 3): Tangier, Morocco

Across the Strait of Gibraltar and just 20 miles from the British enclave of Gibraltar, lies the vastly different city of Tangier, both a strategic port and an exotic place that has long enticed travelers.

Day 14 (JAN 4): Cadiz, Spain

The heart of Cadiz is its old town, cloistered within a bastion ringed by the sea. Here tiny cobblestone streets lead into beckoning café-filled squares, where you can sip while appreciating Moorish architecture.

Days 15-16 (JAN 5-6): Seville, Spain

Home to the great cathedral and The Alcazar, Seville is credited with inventing tapas, and the passionate nature of Sevillanos is evident in their devotion to food as well as bullfighting, flamenco and fiesta.

Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world and its magnificent harbor made it a logical trading port as far back as the Phoenicians; today it’s renowned for an active culture of festivals, art and fashion.
